In the event that the number of registrations exceeds the number of available tickets the following procedure will be adopted to determine the final ticket allocation.
A sub-committee of available members of the Centenary Service Steering Group will meet. The sub-committee will select those who have registered to receive a ticket, with the following aims:
Current UK & Ireland railway and former railway shipping industry employees wearing their employers’ current uniforms will be given a degree of precedence.
Direct descendants of railway and former railway shipping industry employees who died when on military service in WW1 will be given a degree of precedence.
The ticket allocation will aim to ensure that as many UK & Ireland railway and former railway shipping industry current employers and activities as possible are represented.
The ticket allocation will aim to ensure that all geographical parts of the UK & Ireland are represented.
The ticket allocation will, so far as is reasonably practicable, aim to ensure that a cross sections of genders are represented.
The ticket allocation will give a degree of precedence to UK & Ireland railway and former railway shipping industry current and retired employees with past or current service in the regular or reserve armed forces of any country.
The ticket allocation will give a degree of precedence to UK & Ireland railway and former railway shipping industry current and retired employees who had ancestors at the 1919 memorial service.
None of the above guarantees that anyone registered on the registration site with any of the declared interests above will be allocated a ticket. The final ticket allocation will be at the sole discretion of the sub committee. The sub committee reserves the right to ask people who express interests on the registration site to provide further evidence of those interests.
The sub committee will determine the list of people to receive tickets and a reserve list in the event that tickets are returned. The initial allocation of tickets will be sent out by regular post on or before 21 October. The sub committee will not be responsible for any consequences of tickets that are lost in the post. If you are offered a ticket and cannot attend, please return it as soon as possible so someone else can be invited from the reserve list. If you register but do not hear from us, please assume you have not been allocated a ticket. We will not be able to enter into correspondence. For security reasons, tickets are strictly not transferable and photographic identity matching the ticket holder will be required for entry to the Cathedral.
